About Colombia

When you ask someone who’s just come back from South America which of all the places they visited was their favourite, the answer, more often than any other, is Colombia.

What makes Colombia so special? Sure, there are beautiful beaches, tropical islands, jungle treks, salsa clubs and cosmopolitan cities like Cartagena, Bogota or Medellin. But there’s also something about Colombia that makes it unique, something you can’t quite put your finger on. Maybe it’s the open warmth of the people, the colourful buses on a busy city street or the salsa beats pulsing from every street corner, or simply because it´s still one of the few places on earth untouched by mass tourism. Whatever it is, people just seem to fall in love with the place. Many regions of Colombia have only just opened up, so although it’s now safe to travel in these areas, it can still be difficult to get around if you’re not fluent in Spanish and in some areas it is still not recommended to travel alone. Many of the best places are the ones that even the guide books haven’t discovered yet.
